[INTERVIEW] with Singer and Songwriter Anbuley

"..............I have loads of dreams, I hope they come true"

Singer Anbuley
We got to spent a little time getting to know Anbuley a singer and songwriter who sings in ga, a language of her ancestors on her mother's side of her family and widely spoken in Ghana. She describes her music as mostly electronic with an African influence.

"[My Music] Its a fusion of the worlds I grew up in.

Singer Anbuley

" " I would call it Afro Electronic Music"

Singer Anbuley

As a child Anbuley used to sing in the school choir back in Ghana, but when she went to live in Vienna she had a long break up until 6years  ago. After meeting a producer through mutual friends she got to record a song that she uploaded onto the web, within no time she was getting requests from producers across the globe that wanted to work with her.

She sights her strongest influences as her parents, her roots and life. For Anbuley she didn't always know that music was what she wanted to do, it all happened without planning and was the most natural thing for her to do.(We believe she should also be a model and I'm sure most of you would agree with us. She always takes some amazing pictures). She takes a moment to reminisce about one of her first experiences with music for the very first time with her father and sister driving down on the Teshie/Labadi Road, in their Peugeot 504, listening to loud music. She can hear the melody of the song playing in her mind but has no recollection of the song name or singer.

"My songs are mostly about things I have experienced, and life in general"

Singer Anbuley

When it comes to music she doesn't make career goals define her success anymore, she simply loves music, making music and the whole art around it. She has loads of dreams and hopes to achieve them. She prides herself in having creative control over her music. Its important  to make sure everything fits in together for her, so she does as much as possible to bring this to life. She is very much involved in the video concept, the concept for her show visual, pictures, makeup ideas and even makes most of the clothes on her videos including the styling.

" I love music!"

Singer Anbuley

She states that her biggest challenge is life and living like many others out there. She believes we all need to continue to love and have to keep on dreaming and make those dreams real, not allowing anything or anyone to destroy your dream and soul.

"There is music for every kind of mood"
Singer Anbuley

When it comes to listening to music her musical world is open, she just loves music and thinks all music genres can be great, its all down to the love and passion with which it was created. She listens to music a lot and what she listens to is down to her mood. We asked her how she deals with any negative publicity, her response was " If it is hate coming from haters, who are wounded souls, wounded souls who are not working on their own healing, I see that and I don't absorb the hate anymore, I just leave it where it comes from." (Good answer Anbuley, we couldn't agree with you more).

" I cant write and sing to a song that doesn't inspire me"
Singer Anbuley

Anbuley has worked with different producers on ft.tracks. She recently performed live at the Suburbia Festival this month. To keep up to date with the singer visit her website here>>

Hook: “You don’t know what I know, so u can’t play me”It’s a song about a woman saying goodbye to a guy who is a player.

M33ba” means “Why”
It’s a song about the inequality and lopsidedness of our world, about the imbalance of the distribution of our resources and wealth. My focus in this song is Africa where u have the mega rich on one side and children dying of hunger and sickness on the other side.I imagined mama Africa singing a song about her children.

It's  a song about a male person who wants to oppress a woman, who wants to own her soul, break her to make a puppet out of her-a puppet without her own will or personality.

It's  a love song about loving someone, standing to that person though good and bad times..
