Tribal fashion has been making
its presence known mainly in the resort collections for the past few seasons.
When designers started producing resort collections they took a relaxed
approach probably because the resort collection was originally designed to be
worn on your holidays throughout the year. Designers played it safe by opting
for animal prints and safari inspired looks in the past.
This spring summer we see a more
artistic mix of African inspired prints, beads and shells. Designs have a fun
and elegant presence punctuated by exotic colours for a beautiful effect. BCBG
Max Azria, Burberry Prorsum, Cynthia Steffe, Derek Lam and Missoni to name just
a few have all embraced a free form and experimental approach to this trend
which I give the heads up because it has definitely worked.Tribal is here to stay. This
global trend with an African influence can be worn in different ways. You can
opt to go for a statement accessory to give depth to your outfit; you could
choose one item whether it’s a blouse, dress, shirt, skirt etc. And play it down with coordinating or
matching colours. You could simply go all out with a head-to- toe print affair.
Combine any prints that have similar, coordinating or matching colours for “ethnic
tantalising chic”.
